If you are interested in having me come speak at your organization, business, youth group, or church I would love to hear from you.  This off-season (2012) I will only be able to speak in the Spokane, WA area.  My wife and I are having a baby this fall and I will limit my travel.

I have a heart and passion for anti-human trafficking and poverty-related issues. A lot of the content I speak on is focused around these causes. If you want to get involved in what I am doing you can check out my online home at The Jeremy Affeldt Foundation and at Generation Alive.  They will have ways you can donate or become active in your community.

It has been great to follow your career on the diamond but even greater to follow your career as you have turned into a great role model for all kids.

Jeremy, it’s Kevin. You may not remember me but you came up to Spokane (Northwest Christian) to the Varsity Academy Camp that they held and worked with me on my mechanics (I’m left-handed), Brett Richardson had asked you to work with me. Was wondering if you were going to be coming up to Spokane this winter, I’m moving there here this week and I’m trying out for Spokane Falls Community College. If possible I could use a little bit more work, my velocity seems to be dropping and not sure how to improve it…if you can please email me.

thank you very much. hope to hear from you soon.

    Good Luck Man!

Not sure if you’ll remember me, but I worked with Phillip Koenig along with Jason Soucinek, Darrin Duty and Jasen Hatten in the “early days” of G.A. — meeting up at the Service Station once a week for phone conferences with you, etc….

Anyway, I just wanted to touch base and tell you I’m so happy to see how this ministry has exploded! I’m still in the Spokane area, so if there’s ever anything I can do to help, please let me know.

    And … GO GIANTS!

Jeremy, all of us with Deeper Waters love you and Larisa, miss you, and say CONGRATULATIONS on your new little addition. Can’t wait to see pictures of daddy’s delight!

In the meantime, thank you for your candor about and influence against human trafficking. More and more people are waking up to the reality and horror of humans being sold day after day. We will declare the goodness of God and believe for ideas He fuels to end this travesty. Thanks for taking a stand, bring attention to the issue, giving practical ways to get involved, and loving the Hope found in Christ. You’re an inspiration.

    Hi Jeremy,

My name is Nate and I am eight years old. I am your number one fan. Even though I’m not from San Francisco, I still like the Giants.

I am a Christian, too. I gave you a book at Fellowship Day in 2009 called “Spectacular Sins” by John Piper. Did you read the book? I read the book and it’s really good. You should listen to Pastor John Piper on http://www.desiringgod.org. I really like John Piper because he helped me understand what the Gospel is all about, and about the sovereignty of God. Please give the book to Brian Wilson when you are done reading it.

I know you can beat the Rangers. I hope you keep making God look great out on the baseball diamond.

    Go Giants!
    From,
    Nate

    Jeremy,
Can you make it out to the valley on a Thursday night in January. I think it would be awesome if you could come speak to our youth group prior to the feed the hunger event. I have an open date on Jan 6th, 13th, or 2oth. The 6th or 13th might work best as it would be the last push prior to the event. looking forward to seeing what God will do.
    In fellow service to Him,
    Chris

I just wanted to let you know that you have been an inspiration to me from the things you do for the community. I’m more of a spiritual person than religious, although some verses from the Bible inspire me. And due to personal circumstances in the past year or so, I’ve developed a new relationship with my Higher Power. I have started helping those less fortunate than me, and it makes me feel good to know I have brightened someone else’s day and helped make sure they have a safe place to have a hot meal.

I know that I can’t save the world, but I do know I can hopefully change the life of one person.

Great philanthropic work. I get emails for not for sale. I have signed many petitions and forwarded many on too. I am considering volunteering for a Roseville, Ca. shelter for sexual slave teenaged girls. Though my life has been far easier, I don’t want to have a countertransference reaction, so I need to pray about it more. As a master’s social worker, I think about these things before I leap into something. I am a big Giant’s fan and my family will go to quite a few games. Congrats on an amazing season. You really bailed out Sanchesz w/ his emotional reaction in the World Series. You were very cool and great. I am concerned about Brian Wilson’s condoning “The Machine” from the movie 8MM. I am writing to him about it. Do you think it is just his warped sense of humor? He can’t condone violence agains women? The Machine kills women in snuff films – the ultimate misogyny. Thanks for getting back to me as this worries me in terms of him being an role model. I am a big fan of his and want him to walk the true Christian walk as a strong man of God.

Jeremy as a NWC baseball parent I wanted to tell you thank you for what you do for not just the kids at our school but for kids everywhere. I know you have been working with one of my favorite young men Kevin Morcom.

God has been moving me in my walk and seems to be heading me in the area of working with women along with encouraging me to really write and share my faith. I have started a blog to encourage women mostly but not every thing I write is for just women.

I have been very impressed with your blog and I have listed it on my blog role in hopes that my readers will also find you blog as a encouragement. Thanks again for all you do and if you would please say a prayer for my son Tanner who is a red shirt catcher at Colorado Christian, that he would have clarity as to if he should stay at Colorado or got to Dallas to play ball.

Thank you and God’s blessings, Kim Chaffin (www.skthc.blogspot.com)

Your blog posts are always deep and I enjoy reading them. I kinda disagree with whole alcohol thing. Alcohol is bad imo. I didn’t drink until I was in my late teens. My dad always had alcohol around and never said it was bad and I came from a good Christian home. I still became an alcoholic. Five years sober now. I guess what I’m saying is that even if you are open and honest with your kids about it they can still become alcoholics. I read a study that found alcohol to be the most dangerous drug. More dangerous than heroin, coke, meth, and pot. Just ’cause it’s legal doesn’t make it okay. I’m not trying to be rude. I respect you as a human being and a baseball player. I’m just kinda disagreeing with you. That’s all.

    • May 18, 2011 12:11 am

      Brooke,

I actually dont disagree with you to a point. I am not saying you should or shouldn’t drink alcohol. My main theme during this is judging either way is wrong. I do not think alcohol is more dangerous than some of the heavier narcotics such as heroin, coke, and meth due to how these drugs are made they can do so pretty bad things not only to the body but specifically to the mind. I do however think if you have an addictive personality alcohol might not be for you. I think anything done to addiction can be bad for you. It doesn’t have to be drugs or alcohol. The reality is that drinking isn’t a sin and I would rather be open about it with my children than hide it. If it causes my kids to stumble then having it in my home might have to come to an end

    Hi Jeremy,

I just came across your blog and have enjoyed what I have read so far.I would like to say that I agree with you about enjoying a drink is not a sin. I think it is ok to have a drink, as long as you do it in moderation. I feel once you let it consume you and consume your life and become the driving force in your life, then that is the sin. But I feel there is nothing wrong with enjoying a drink, as long as the person is responsible.

    Hi Jeremy,
I think it’s great that you are so dedicated to your values and practice what you preach both on and off the field. I was hoping to get your help in spreading the word about TeenForce. It’s a small non-profit jobs program for teens and young adults in the South Bay that a friend of mine works for. They do their best to provide job placements and work readiness trianing for teens ages 13-20. I’m sure you’re well aware, unemployment is at an all time high and it is especially difficult for youth to find employment (teen employment is at a 62 year low). Having a part time job or summer internship is integral in youth development; having a job gives youth a sense of responsibility, and a role in their community it also contributes to key developmental assets that keep students striving to achieve and staying on a path of success.
TeenForce has already helped about 80 teens find jobs however, more teens come in looking for jobs and they don’t have enough jobs to provide to each teen seeking employment.
In your most recent post, you talk about everyone pitching in a small part to make a huge difference. If a few residents, small businesses, and even corporations offered an employment opportunity for a teen, a few hours a week, would be a tremendous help. Anything you can do even sending a tweet about TeenForce @Teenjobsprogram, to help TeenForce grow in to the self sustaining, program it strives to be will help a variety of diverse communities facing these challenges.

Even if all you do is read this,
    Thank you.

God Bless you, your family and the GIANTS,

    -mini

First off I want to thank you for being such an inspiration through the team and with all your blog posts and charity work!! It has been so refreshing for me to now be able to see the Giants I love in a new light. I always noticed something different about some of you guys but I didn’t know the extent of the faith in the club. I didn’t know about the fellowship/faith nights until I saw your video posted from this years faith night in your blog. I spent most of last night between watching the game(congrats), watching the other videos on youtube. It was inspiring and such a joy to see the guys that I already am a huge fan of become even more so through their testimonies! I really would love to attend the next fellowship night! I am so thrilled to see this in our club!! I really enjoy reading your blog and seeing your perspective on God and how amazing he is! I struggle a lot with “which end of the bicycle I am on” and I was moved when you spoke about that. You have such an amazing God given insight on what is truth. Thank you for doing all you do and I pray for continued success in your professional life and most of all in your personal life and your humble walk with the Lord! May God continue to bless you!

    In love and light,
    Melody

I am enjoying your posts on doubt. It is a very difficult thing to deal with. Life sucks when you doubt the Lord’s presence and love. My parents divorced when I was about two and a half and that really messed me up mentally and spiritually! Unfortunately the divorce was due to physical and mental abuse towards my mom. My relationship with my very negative step father hasn’t helped either! Growing up with a bad attitude towards my earthly father figures didn’t help me when it came time to believe in the love of and from this “Heavenly Father.” I really struggled and still sometimes continue on the tough days to consider Him as “Loving Father.” I kept saying, “How am I to believe He loves me that much when I don’t get that from my dad/step dad and especially since I can’t even see him!” “Where is this Loving God people talk about?” Doubt was a big part of my life in that area.Thankfully I found a good friend (Ryan) a few years ago who i believe is truly annointed! Through him as a very strong believer sharing his own personal father issues with me along with his tremendous faith walk has really changed my heart towards God. I know that God brought Ryan into my life to help show me His love. Through our friendship I got my childlike faith back and it has grown tremendously through the last 4 years! I was baptized last year here in Lake Tahoe (actually IN the Lake!) by Ryan and the Pastor. I still have bad days when the devil’s whispers get me a bit down but I have my faith in The Loving Father that covers all! I am so blessed to live in Lake Tahoe where everyday I can look out my window and SEE the creation and beauty of God and that is all I need to remind me of the REAL Presence/Presents of The Lord!

    Blessings,
    Melody

    Jeremy,
It’s great to see how well you are doing in life and especially in your walk with Christ! We were the crazy people who were involved w/ Medical Lake Community Church Youth Group. We have been following you as your career has developed…listened in during the Series and caught bits and pieces throughout the year. Most importantly we are very impressed with how God has used your life in areas that will shape eternity! We are still involved in youth ministry in a small church in the Tacoma area…much like our Medical Lake church. I listened to your message from Giants Faith Day and was wondering if we could have your permission to share this during our weekly Youth meeting? Take care and be sure to say hi to your mom and dad and Nicole for us.

Let’s address the huge problem of child molesters hiding in God’s house and word. What programs are offered in the church to address this crime? They sit among our children and pray with them as they
Prey on them as well. Our two young grandchildren were sexually assulted.Even though my daughter won full physical and legal custody and was even granted a name change on their last names and changed their birth certificates as well. The criminal side is dragging.Would’nt you think the leadership of the church would question this man’s explanation of why he lost both his children in a civil matter?Hard to lose that in this day and age.Mean while he continues to hide in the congregation and put other children at risk.We are left with complete hearts broken and picking up the pieces of our children’s shattered lifes. No one wants to believe that anyone we trust and once loved could do this to their love ones. But they do! It’s time to recognize this hedious and growing crime against our children and be their voice. It’s time for the men in the church to speak up.Even it’s to their own family member or friend.

    Dear Jeremy,

I have only heard one professional athlete from Syracuse University reluctantly respond to the Penn State and Syracuse University sexual abuse scandals. This one Syracuse University pro athlete said he didn’t want to go there on CNN. Although it is understandable to be uncomfortable about such tragic circumstances, I think someone in professional sports should address the abuse of power by coaches. With your work on human sex trafficking, you came to my mind as a courageous professional athlete.

My husband bough Giant’s tickets for his big 50th birthday, end of the regular season… last two games. Please give him the best 50th birthday present ever with a repeat of 2010! Go Giants!!!

    Blessings,

    Hi Jeremy,

I have been reading your blog for quite some time now, and I know that in addition to your faith, you are also very passionate about philanthropy. I wanted to tell you about an organization that I just read about tonight. After reading about them, I immediately thought of you! They are a SoCal-based organization called Sevenly that aims to increase awareness and funding for causes around the world (everything from slavery, hunger, clean water, disaster-relief, etc.) by partnering with one non-profit per week. They design a unique t-shirt for that week’s charity, and sell it on their website for seven days. For every t-shirt purchased, they donate $7 to that particular charity. I know that they worked with Not For Sale last year, and I thought it might be something that your organization (Generation Alive) might be interested in partnering with. Here’s the link just in case you want to check them out: http://sevenly.org/

It is little billy I think asking his mom a similar question, her response is “God answers all prayers, but sometimes the best answer is no”. Many times that has helped me to understand why it seemed my prayers weren’t answered. I hope it helps you.

    Dear Mr. Affeldt,

I teach an elective course called “Sports & Spirituality” at St. Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco. We are studying “Saints & Athletes: Spiritual and Athletic Heroes.” The highlight of our year thus far has been hearing personal testimonies from men and women whose faith is front and center of their life (e.g Scott Cousins and his former coach Nino Giarrantano met with one of my classes and students reference their insights nearly once a week).

We will be attending Fellowship Night in September (a new group of seniors!). Would you be willing or interested in speaking to 30 young men and women in my class about your faith, how athletics has both challenged and supported your faith, etc. We have a “Not For Sale” club that is active on our campus and it would be that much more meaningful in your work with NFS to have you join us!

I teach the class everyday of the week at various times. I am hoping something might fit your busy schedule.

I can provide much more information as needed.
Thank you for considering and more importantly for sharing the Good News!.

I had no idea Jeremy Affeldt was so actively involved in such an important cause, or was a follower of Jesus. It is just wonderful to see an athlete with so much influence take an interest in a cause that is often over looked and ignored. Bringing attention to human trafficking is what is needed for more people to realize how often this is happening. Hopefully it can also shed some light on the fact of trafficking occurring within the boundaries of the U.S. not just abroad and that these men, women and children are victims not criminals! Thank you Mr. Affeldt
